Since I started my mountaineering journey, my ultimate goal was to climb the tallest mountains in the world. That meant going to the Himalayas. It always seemed like something so far away but while planning for a trip to Aconcagua, I convinced my climbing partner Yen to instead spend the money going to Nepal and get to know the everest region. We will be climbing a +20,000' peak, being the first time either of get that high. Its both Exciting and scary to think how our bodies will react to the altitude coming from sea level at South Florida. Ultimately this will let us know exactly where we are physically and what would be necessary for us to train for the taller mountains. I will keep posting about my training and gear in the weeks leading up to the trip. I am also planning some training hikes/climbs in other states of the U.S..
As usual, I will be using this trip to raise awareness for the opioid epidemic In the name of my cousin, Eduardo Caceres who passed away of an opioid overdose. All donations raised will be used 100% by the HERO Foundation to educate and treat those in need. Hundreds of people are dying everyday at the hands of this nasty drug and we have the power to do something about it.
Stick around for more on my upcoming trip!
